A Little About Arturo

Arturo is a native of New Orleans, but spent his formative years with family in San Juan Puerto Rico. He returned to New Orleans as a teenager, fluent in Spanish and English.  On his 18th birthday, he began to pursue a career as a radio and disco disc jockey. While learning the ropes, Arturo secured a job spinning Disco, Jazz, R&B and Rock ‘N’ Roll at a night club in the world-famous French Quarter. Later he joined WWOZ FM training volunteers and producing Jazz and R & B radio shows and at WRNO FM, he worked as an FM DJ, radio and short wave engineer.

Arturo left the ”Big Easy” in 1982 and relocated to Los Angeles, California, with plans to pursue a career as an FM Disc Jockey. In the meantime he dabbled in the entertainment business standing in for kids, doing some extra work, and working on student and low-budget films and the acting bug bit. In 1985, he received his Screen Actors Guild card while working on Mel Brooks’ Spaceballs. Arturo has been featured in such films as; Monkeybone, Spaceballs, The Fantasticks, Dirty Work, The Munsters’ Scary Little Christmas, Silent Tongue and Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey. TV show appearances include: Charmed, Ally McBeal, Just Shoot Me, Honey I Shrunk the Kids-the TV show, The Parkers, Unhappily Ever After, The Man Show and as Machete on Estudio 2 on Estrella TV Network.

Arturo, who stands 3′ 6″, encourages “Hollywood” to use actors with dwarfism, disabilities and ethnic backgrounds in films and TV, to create a more realistic reflection of our world.
